Sue Tucker
Mosaic Artist | Mushroom Artist | Tutor | Visual Merchandising Consultant
Originally trained as a mosaic artist, I began by creating detailed wildlife and pet mosaics using vintage china. My work evolved after spending time working for a wildlife charity across numerous nature reserves. Immersed in these environments, I became deeply inspired by the textures, colours and forms found throughout the natural world.
This inspiration now extends beyond wildlife to the broader landscapes of nature — both in the UK and across the globe. Aerial views of the earth have particularly influenced my latest collection of mixed-media wall art. These pieces capture the essence of forests, woodlands, farmland, mountains, volcanoes, rock formations, oceans, meandering rivers and streams.
Alongside my mosaic work, I also create sculptural mushrooms and fungi-inspired pieces, celebrating the intricate and often overlooked beauty of the forest floor. My practice combines natural inspiration with reclaimed and mixed materials, bringing together texture, colour and pattern to evoke the richness of the natural landscape.
As a tutor, I enjoy sharing my knowledge and creative process through workshops, encouraging others to explore mosaic and mixed-media techniques in an accessible and inspiring way. My background in visual merchandising also informs my approach to composition, storytelling and the presentation of artwork.
Using logs, branches, twigs, driftwood, bamboo, bark, slate, seed pods, shells, moss, stones, and turquoise ceramic fragments—along with nails and springs naturally weathered over time—I’ve created a unique collection inspired by the beauty of nature and the passage of time.
Each piece celebrates natural textures and reclaimed materials, bringing a sense of the outdoors into the home. Perfect for spaces where nature is appreciated, these works add an organic, rustic charm and a story shaped by the elements.
